Age group: 3 years - 5 years
At this stage, children engage in the five core Montessori areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Culture. Building on the foundations laid during the Waddle Ducks phase, Little Penguins further develop essential skills like grace and courtesy, as well as reading, writing, and mathematics, preparing them for the transition to "big" school.

In a Montessori environment, children work with a sense of independence and freedom of choice, often described as freedom within limits. Our guides act as careful observers, stepping in only to introduce new materials or offer guidance when necessary. Children in Little Penguins are thoughtfully prepared to progress to both Montessori Elementary and traditional primary schools.

Maria Montessori
“He does it with his hands, by experience, first in play and then through work. The hands are the instruments of man's intelligence.”
OUR APPROACH
The Little Penguin environments consist of classrooms that have been carefully curated to cater for children aged 3 to 5 years old.
There are 5 curriculum areas in which the children can choose to work in. The developmental areas on which we focus are: the refinement of fine motor skills and the ability to write. The refinement of visual perception and discrimination (colours, size, order, matching etc.), mathematical and language skill development. We also aim to build the child's general knowledge about the world they live in by presenting science and geography lessons.
We also focus on preparing the child for integration into society, by presenting lessons to them that create awareness about social etiquette.
